  1. Does treatment colour the wood?

    Light color wood develops cream tinge but cannot always tell the difference.

  2. Is Saferwood toxic?

  3. What is the lead time for custom treatment?

    3-6 weeks.

  4. Advantage other than meeting fire code?

    Widen options of using exposed wood, or increase fire safety at forest resort area or WUI landscaping structures, fencing, decking, cladding. Potential building & construction insurance cost saving. Can install during rain or at leak/condensation area.

    Generally 90%+ of building fire spreaded from wildfire originated from flying ember accumulation in decking boar or decking joist area.

  5. Did California ban all wood shingles?

    No, Saferwood is only fully approved technology for its use in California.

  6. Does it need to be stained to keep life time warranty?

    Decking or Siding intended Saferwood has weather resistance with or without stain. Fire ignition resistance has product life time warranty regardless.

    There are low VOC compliant non toxic brands of stain products produced in Canada and US our customers use. All stain should be sample tested for due diligence. Due to Saferwood’s water leach resistance quality, purely water based stain on smooth face should be avoided.

  7. Is it okay to cut Saferwood?

    Yes. Cutting lengths, drilling holes, and sanding lightly are all permitted. No need for coating cut ends in order to maintain the flame spread rating.

  8. What type of fasteners is suitable?

    Hot-dipped galvanized or stainless steel hardware is required.

  9. Where are the treatment plants?

    They are located in Maple Ridge BC, & Ferndale WA. We can provide Transportation and custom clearance to/from Canada.

  10. Does it have rot & weathering resistance?

    It is a natural characteristics of our non toxic treatment, and no warranty is provided. Customer feedback and tests indicate significantly increased durability compared to non treated wood.
